APPLICATION AND USE

Preparation: PREVIOUSLY ANTIFOULED SURFACE

In Good Condition: Completely remove contaminants and antifouling. High pressure wash (207 bar/3000 psi) with freshwater and/or roughen and sand with 80-120 grit paper. If the old antifouling is incompatible or unknown, seal with a suitable International sealer.
In Poor Condition: Remove all flakey material and sand the entire area. The areas that have been brought to their original state, must be treated as new surfaces. If the old antifouling is incompatible or unknown, seal with a suitable International sealer.

PRIMING
To choose the most suitable primer, consult Yachtpaint.com or contact International Customer Service.
NATURAL GRP: Degrease with solvent or with suitable detergent. Sand well with 180-220 grit paper. Wash thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Pre-prime using an International primer as indicated for specific painting cycles.

STEEL
Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent. Sand metal surfaces with Sa 2½ grit. If sanding is not possible then disc sand the metal with 24-36 grit until obtaining a clean and even surface with average scoring of 50-75 microns. Use an angle sander for small areas. Wash thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Pre-prime with a suitable International prime (within 8 hours) as indicated for specific paint cycles.

LEAD
Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent. Sand well with 120 grit paper or use a mechanical brush. Wash thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Pre-prime using a suitable International primer as indicated for specific paint cycles.

NATURAL WOOD/PLYWOOD
Sand/roughen with 80/180 grit paper and then with 280 grit paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting with a dust cloth or other suitable method. Prime using an International primer as indicated for specific painting cycles.
Method: Apply 2 coats per season on the hull. 3 coats are required on the leading and trailing edges, waterline, rudder and keel.
This is important for best performance. If protection for 2 seasons is required, apply 3 coats on the hull and 4 coats on the leading and trailing edges, waterline, rudder and keel. The more applied, the longer the antifouling protection. The boat can be left out of the water after application of the antifouling for up to 12 months before launching.

Useful tips - Mixing
Stir well before use Thinner YTA085 Thinners No.3
Thinning is not recommended.
Cleaner YTA085 Thinners No.3
Airless Spray Pressure: 176-210 bar. Nozzle diameter 2180.
Other For Airmix spray application: Pressure: 2.5 bar. Nozzle diameter: 20-113. TTrue colour will develop after immersion. Take care to apply all the paint calculated even if it means applying an extra coat. It is important for performance to apply the correct thickness.

Some Important Points
To prevent premature wearing out, ensure the correct amount of paint is applied using the coverage as a guide. Product temperature should be minimum -5°C and maximum 35°C. Ambient temperature should be minimum -5°C and maximum 35°C. Substrate temperature should be minimum 1°C above dew point and maximum 35°C.

Compatibility/Substrates
GRP, wood, steel/iron, lead. Not suitable for use over aluminium/alloy substrates or zinc coated surfaces. Can be applied directly over most types of antifoulings, provided they are in good condition.
Number of Coats: 2-3 by brush/roller
Coverage/spreading rate (Theoretical) - 10.0 m²/lt by brush; 3.0 m²/lt by spray.
Recommended dry film thickness (DFT) per coat 60 microns
Recommended wet film thickness (WFT) per coat 100 microns
Application Methods: Airless spray, brush, Airmix, roller
