Description

NAUTILUS kit specifically designed for "ploughshare" type anchors (DELTA, BRUCE, C.Q.R., FORCE etc.)

ASSEMBLY
Insert the fork (A) on the anchor cicada and secure it with the supplied screw and the self-locking bolt (photo 1). Tighten with two 19 spanners (photo 2) until two threads protrude and still make sure that the NAUTILUS rod rotates freely.
Insert the shackle (B) in the front hole (diamond) of the anchor (photo 3).
Check the correct tightening of the bolt on the fork (A), of the shackle (B) and of the oval link (C) (photo 2-4).
Check that the oval link between the kit and the chain slides freely on the telescopic system.
The screw quick link supplied is 12 in diameter and can be directly attached to chains 10 and 12 (photo 5).
For chains of 6 or 8, it is necessary to INTERPOSE a shackle or a link of 6 or 8 respectively not supplied between the chain and the quick link supplied (photo 6).

NOTE
BRUCE® anchors do not have a hole in the lower part of the diamond (they have a hole in the upper part of the diamond - do not use this hole, otherwise the NAUTILUS will not work correctly).
Therefore to position the shackle (B) it is necessary to drill a hole (12.5 mm) in the indicated position (photo 7 - incorrect corrige: the photo incorrectly indicates Ø 8 mm).

ANCHORING OPERATIONS
Bottom the anchor in the traditional way as if the anchor did not have the NAUTILUS kit.
Even in case of boat rotation caused by wind or current, the special shape of the fork (A) will prevent the unintentional dispatch of the anchor provided that the correct chain size exists (at least three times the bottom, which can be increased up to eight, nine times in the event of a hurricane).

RECOVERY OF THE ANCHOR
If the anchor is not run aground, recovery will take place normally
If the anchor is stranded, the NAUTILUS kit allows it to be released in a simple and functional way.
To carry out this maneuver, move to the vertical of the anchor proceeding in the working direction of the chain before recovery.
Retrieve the calumum leaving the chain slightly banned, go over the vertical of the chain / anchor and proceed for a few meters always in the direction previously identified.
The operation described above will cause the quick link to slide along the telescopic system by moving the point of application of the pull to the lower front part of the "diamond" of the anchor (photo 10).

WARNING!
After the anchor is disengaged, at the end of the recovery operations, it will be completely overturned, i.e. with the hulls in the exact opposite position to its normal resting conditions. CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BOW OF THE BOAT.
THEREFORE THE ANCHOR WILL BE "OVERTURNED"!

SUGGESTION
To "overturn" the anchor, it will be sufficient to retrieve the chain so that the anchor (overturned) is as close as possible to the side of the boat. Let the "cicada" of the anchor enter (facing downwards) in a bucket secured to the boat with a rope (photo 11-a), then quickly lower a section of chain (photo 11-b). The weight of the anchor and the chain link will overturn the bucket and anchor, which will reposition itself correctly (photo 11-c).
The bucket must be strong enough to withstand the weight of the anchor and preferably have the handle that rests, in the rest position, on the side of the bucket and not on the edge of the mouth.
